Feather your nest on this cold winters day...

The sky in Lexington Kentucky, January 22, 2013

Oooooh, don't you just love January?  The Cold
mornings, brisk wind and occasional snow storms
just give me the warm fuzzies.
I think what's so wonderful about winter months
is that they give us an excuse to stay indoors,
bundle up, and eat heart warming foods.

Bedside

Bedside comfort...

Mix up a jar of almond oil spiked with frankencense and sweet orange, and place it at your bedside.  Make an evening ritual out of massaging it into your chest and arms, or ask your partner to rub it into your back for a gently spiced Winters evening journey to sleep.

Having Tea With Mommy

Welcome to Betty's "Having Tea With Mommy" Business Blog

We hello there...I know, I know, how much blogging can one woman do?
Well this my darlings is an entirely different kettle of fish to my usual meanderings.

Here you will monitor my progress as I write this blog, read plans for future developments as a publisher of Blackberry Patch Cookbooks and see my notes on all the exciting things happening on the world of the web...how I plan to implement new advertising policies and ideas, and how much chocolate I eat when post 12 hours a day!

Please feel free, as usual, to share your own thoughts and ideas about the wonderful world of blogging.

Sincerely, Betty

2013: We Reign Supreme!

2013:  We Reign Supreme!

On New Year's Eve night , all across the world, we counted down the seconds until the clock ticked over.  We kissed our lovers and friends and toasted with overflowing glasses of bubbly pink champagne.  We patted glitter onto our eyelids, we fluttered our false eyelashes (what was I thinking!), we slipped into those special slippers.  Then it came:  2013, and it's time to shine.
Let's choose to make this year the perfect mix of work and relaxation; of magic and of mirth; of parties and personal down-time.  Let's keep the balance.
Let's make the moments count.  Let's slow down, count our blessings, smile at our friends, and take lots of photos.
Let's take hugh risks and back them with immense faith.  Let's scare ourselves and do the so-called impossible.
Let's resolve to get back on the horse, no matter how hard it kicks.  We won't be sadder by rejection or put off by a big endeavour.  Let's push further, work harder, and start the most important task first.
Let's make a pledge to really reward ourselves this year.  Let's celebrate with abandon.  Let's keep champagne chilled in the fridge at all times.
Let's gasp with delight, swoon with excitement and laugh with happiness.

It's your year, baby!
Betty xo

Never Stop Learning

                                                                 Never Stop Learning

Never Stop Learning

Today I want to chat about a subject that is close to my heart, lifelong learning.  Whether it's related to a career or strictly a hobby, I feel like trying new things is one of the biggest inspiration sources in my life.  Learning new things makes me feel alive.  Recently while Ed and I were reading about my project...this blog, I paused and said to him, "See!  This is the kind of stuff that makes me be the kind of woman I want to be!"

Book highlt recommended...Martha Stewart's business advice book, The Martha Rules.  One point is about lifelong learning.  She makes it a very big part of her daily life, even in her seventies, as i am doing in my seventies.  Very inspiring!

Sunday Poetry...New Year Resolve

Sunday Poetry
Sunday Poetry

New Year Resolve

The time has come
To stop allowing the clutter
To clutter my mind
Like dirty snow,
Shove it off and find
Clear time, clear water,
Time for a change,
Let silence in like a cat
Who sat at my door
Neither wild nor strange
Happy for food from my door
And shivering on the mat.
Let silence in.
He will barely mew,
He will sleep on our chair
And all I have ever been
Either false or true
Will live again in my head
For it is now or not
As old age silts the stream,
To shove away the clutter,
To untie every knot,
To take the time to dream,
To come back to still water.

Happy Friday Family & Friends...

"Happy Friday," family & friends,
Have a lovely weekend won't you?

Connect with me...

Today I am...concerned about my feet.  Diabetes and poor blood flow have taken over.
Feeling...cold.  The temperature seems to have dropped to gottahave the heat on 78 degrees permanently status and I am wearing a sweat shirt and long pants all day every day, along with my black and pink long bathrobe over them.  And proud of myself.  Because I am blazing my own trail through the darkest of days...
Reading...a strange combination of bird and tea magazines and cookbooks.
Eating...a boiled egg, banana and milk for breakfast.  A super salad for lunch.  A dinner, something light from the freezer.
Planning...to put my feet and legs up on the footstool to rest them more and sleeping  in our bed every night.  Have slept in my living room chair ever since my surgery for my 3rd pacemaker 3 weeks ago.  Not too comfortable!
Dreaming of...
Coveting...a new set of diamond solitar wedding rings!  My fingers have gotten so fat since we married on Valentine's Day in 1985.
Wishing...Sleep came easier.  And how I long to close my eyes and wake up properly refreshed.
Working on...completing this site, which is similar to facebook.
Celebrating...Life! everyday.
Grateful for...having guts, even with diverticulitis.  Rocket fuel coffee first thing in the morning, and
remembering that not every meal has to be a production.  That eating isn't a performance art.  but is instead about taste.  And nibbling.  And flavor.  And easy!
And finally tomorrow will be...we are blessed to live only 6 miles away from roaming deer.  Last evening, we counted 80 deer!  Such a joy!

On my to-do list this month?

*  Write my personal manifesto...
*  Enjoy another weekend
*  Re-fill the stationery drawers under my desk
*  Gather all family photographs for new scrapbooks
*  Order a new black long sleeve sweater
*  Cook storebought frozen meatloaf

 Happy January Family & Friends!
